Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu is not influenced by any cabal or hidden power group, stressing that the President makes all decisions independently with the nation’s best interests at heart.
The Minister made this declaration on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit in Abuja, themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.”
“You need to study the President very carefully. You can express your views and say what you want; he will listen, but the final decision is ultimately his own. I think it is important we acknowledge that,” he said.
Idris was responding to persistent rumours suggesting that President Tinubu, like some predecessors, might be controlled by an unelected cabal.
He dismissed these claims, portraying the President as a self-reliant leader motivated solely by Nigeria’s welfare.
The Minister described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a “bold, people-first blueprint” that is turning inherited challenges into opportunities.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is about positively impacting the lives of Nigerians through courageous decisions designed to unlock Nigeria’s full potential in ways never seen before,” he said.
Idris noted that President Tinubu took office amid significant economic challenges and acted with resolve and courage.
He highlighted the removal of petrol and foreign exchange subsidies among the administration’s first and most important reforms.

“Among the earliest decisions the President made was the removal of petrol and foreign exchange subsidies, which have long been major obstacles to Nigeria’s progress, costing billions of dollars annually in losses and wastage,” he stated.
Emphasising the impact of these reforms, the Minister said significant progress has been made in infrastructure, social investment, mining, and energy sectors.
He announced that the federal government is currently laying 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic cable across the country, calling it the largest broadband rollout in Nigeria’s history.
The Minister also identified the new “Nigeria First” policy as a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda, requiring ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to prioritise local content in all government procurement.
