The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in mobilising citizens towards sustainable economic inclusion.
Idris made the statement at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW 2025) and Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Uyo.
Organised by NIPR, the event carried the theme, “Harnessing Public Relations for Nigeria’s Economic Renaissance.”
The Minister described NIPR’s role as both fundamental and indispensable.
“I commend your recent efforts in promoting ethical reforms, media literacy, and capacity development.
“The government stands ready to support your initiatives as we jointly mobilise Nigerians for sustainable economic inclusion and increased productivity.
“Our responsibility as custodians of the national narrative is vital in shaping Nigeria’s image, clarifying policies, and engaging citizens in our shared quest for economic prosperity as the nation rises again,” Idris stated.
He highlighted that Nigeria has attracted over $50 billion in new foreign direct investment commitments, with diaspora remittances reaching $21.9 billion, reflecting strong confidence in the country’s future.

Idris also noted that the entertainment and creative sectors, particularly Nollywood, contribute more than ₦730 billion to the nation’s GDP.
“These figures represent stories that must be communicated effectively, professionally, and patriotically.
“There is positive news from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April 2025, recently published by the National Bureau of Statistics.
“The headline inflation rate for April was 23.71 per cent, a decline of 0.52 per cent from 24.23 per cent in March 2025,” he explained.
“Similarly, month-on-month inflation fell significantly by 2.04 per cent, from 3.90 per cent in March to 1.86 per cent in April.
“This progress is attributable to the deliberate policy interventions of Mr President, which are gradually yielding results.
“As thought leaders and among our most valuable national assets, NIPR must rise to this challenge.
“At the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, we have embraced this responsibility fully, particularly through the development of the National Strategic Communication Framework (NSCF),” Idris added.
He explained that this framework will ensure coherence in public sector messaging, align national campaigns with public sentiment and development objectives, and foster two-way communication with Nigerians.
He concluded by emphasising the ministry’s commitment to using public communication as a tool for economic growth, social cohesion, and national pride.
