Rema Earns New Platinum Certification in France

In a historic milestone for Afrobeats and Nigerian music, Rema headlined a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City on 2 May 2025, becoming one of the few Nigerian artistes to reach this prestigious milestone.

The concert, held on the singer’s 25th birthday, formed part of his Heis World Tour, in support of his second studio album, Heis. The tour has already taken the Mavin Records star to major venues across North America, Europe, and Asia, including London’s O2 Arena and the Accor Arena in Paris.

Rema thrilled thousands of fans with an electrifying performance, delivering live renditions of hit tracks such as YAYO and HEHEHE. A particularly striking moment came during HEHEHE, when mannequins representing Nigerian music icons Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido were displayed on stage—symbolising unity and the global ascent of Afrobeats.

One of the emotional high points of the evening was a tribute to Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, who joined Rema on stage.
“I want to give you your flowers right in front of all these people… You’ve changed so many lives, and I just want to say I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart,” Rema said, receiving a thunderous ovation.

With this performance, Rema joins an exclusive group of Nigerian artistes—including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Asake—who have headlined at Madison Square Garden. The feat further solidifies his position as one of Afrobeats’ leading figures and underscores the global resonance of Nigerian music.

The MSG concert is widely hailed as a landmark moment in Rema’s career and a powerful affirmation of Africa’s growing cultural influence on the international stage.
