Nigerian Equities Market Opens Week with 0.62% Gain

The Nigerian equities market began the trading week on a positive trajectory as major market indicators closed higher on Monday, recording a 0.62% increase.

The All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 655.93 points to settle at 106,698.50, up from Friday’s close of 106,042.57. Similarly, the market capitalisation appreciated by ₦413 billion, reaching ₦67.060 trillion compared to ₦66.647 trillion at the previous week’s close.

Market sentiment remained upbeat, with 35 gainers outpacing 29 losers at the end of the session.

Top Gainers and Losers
Leading the gainers’ chart was Beta Glass Company, which posted a 9.97% rise to close at ₦120.75. The Initiates Plc followed with a 9.9% increase to ₦5.44, while Cadbury Nigeria advanced by 9.87% to close at ₦35.05.

Conversely, Meyer Plc topped the losers’ list with a 9.83% decline, closing at ₦8.35. Ecobank Transnational trailed with a 9.62% drop to ₦23.50, while Custodian & Allied shed 4.72% to close at ₦17.15.

Volume and Value of Trade
First Bank Holding Company recorded the highest trading volume with 106 million shares exchanged, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding Company with 87.2 million shares.

In total, investors traded 569.04 million shares valued at ₦18.9 billion across 18,612 transactions on Monday.
