The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the umbrella body for professional screen actors in Nollywood, has inaugurated an Asset Recovery Panel to reclaim properties and resources belonging to the guild.
AGN National President, Dr Emeka Rollas, introduced the three-man panel during an interactive session with the Board of Trustees (BOT) on Wednesday in Abuja, where the guild also officially presented its new national secretariat.
The panel, chaired by Onwurah Ifeanyi with Garba Muazu as Secretary and Sydney Diala as member, has the mandate to recover and safeguard assets allegedly mismanaged or wrongfully appropriated by past leaders.
Rollas said the guild had lost several assets over the past two decades, including vehicles, furnished offices, landed property, and equipment, stressing that the panel would work with agencies such as the Police, EFCC, and ICPC to recover them.
“To safeguard our future and deter such practices, we have set up the AGN Asset Recovery Panel. This step will not only restore what belongs to us but also strengthen accountability and integrity in our institution,” he stated.
Rollas, who is serving his final tenure, also confirmed the inauguration of a National Electoral Committee (AGNEC) by the BOT to oversee the forthcoming national elections in line with the guild’s constitution.
Reflecting on his seven years in office, Rollas thanked the BOT for their support, noting that his administration had fostered unity, improved visibility for the guild locally and internationally, and introduced initiatives such as a retail health management plan and the AGN Super App, which provides members with rewards, opportunities, and access to vital information.
BOT Secretary, Sonny McDon, praised Rollas and his team for their commitment, saying:
“Against all odds, you have proven that to whom much is given, much is expected, and you have not fallen short. We acknowledge your efforts and achievements and remain in support of your administration.”
