Nigeria powered into the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 2-0 victory over Algeria, as second-half goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed a deserved quarter-final triumph.
After a tightly contested first half, the Super Eagles struck just two minutes after the restart. Osimhen opened the scoring by guiding home a long cross from the left delivered by Bruno Onyemaechi. Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane misjudged the flight of the ball, making an awkward leap and allowing the effort to drift past him into the net.
The goal shifted momentum firmly in Nigeria’s favour, with the West Africans growing in confidence and control as Algeria struggled to respond. Nigeria’s pressing and physicality disrupted Algeria’s rhythm, limiting clear chances for the North African side.

Algeria pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but their efforts left gaps at the back, and Nigeria took full advantage late on. Akor Adams struck the decisive second goal to put the contest beyond doubt, sparking celebrations among Nigerian supporters and confirming their place in the last four.
The victory extends Nigeria’s unbeaten run in the tournament and sets up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against hosts Morocco in Rabat on January 14.
In the other half of the draw, Senegal await the winner of the quarter-final meeting between Egypt and Ivory Coast, scheduled to take place later in Agadir
