Liverpool has agreed a deal to sign Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British record fee of around £130 million ($175 million), according to reports from Sky Sports News and The Athletic.
The agreement, finalised after weeks of tense negotiations, makes the 25-year-old the most expensive signing in British football history. Liverpool’s earlier offer of £110 million had been rejected in August, with talks dominating the Premier League transfer window, which closes on Monday.
Neither Liverpool nor Newcastle have yet commented on the deal.
Isak was Newcastle’s top scorer last season with 23 league goals, firing the club back into the Champions League with a fifth-placed finish. He also struck in the League Cup final against Liverpool, helping Newcastle lift their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

However, his relationship with the club soured during the summer. He skipped Newcastle’s pre-season tour and trained separately, in what manager Eddie Howe described as a “lose-lose” situation. In a statement, Isak accused the club of breaking promises and misleading supporters, adding that leaving was in the “best interests of everyone.”
The move to Anfield will make Isak Liverpool’s marquee signing of the season, as the club looks to strengthen its attack in pursuit of domestic and European glory.
