At least 10 people, including a child, were injured when a Russian attack struck Kyiv on Thursday, causing a fire and damaging a high-rise residential building, Ukrainian authorities said.
Kyiv’s military administration initially announced that the attack had killed one person but later corrected the information, confirming that there had been no deaths.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said nine people were initially reported injured, among them six medical workers. The city authorities subsequently raised the number of injured to 10.
According to Klitschko, the attack damaged the ninth floor of a residential tower in a district outside central Kyiv. Fifteen residents were evacuated from the building following the incident.
Footage circulated on unofficial Telegram channels showed flames and a large fireball rising over the city. The channels claimed a jet-powered drone had struck the building, but Ukrainian authorities had not immediately confirmed the report.
Further explosions were reported in Kyiv later in the day, as an air raid warning remained active for more than two hours.
Klitschko said six other people had been injured in earlier attacks on the capital, which has been subjected to sustained Russian strikes for more than a week.
