Abuja Set for 2026 African Cycling Championships

Abuja is set to welcome Africa’s elite cyclists as Nigeria prepares to host the 3rd Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Track African Championships and the 12th CAC Track African Championships.

The continental competitions will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome from May 9 to 17, 2026, bringing together top able-bodied and para-athletes from across Africa.

Countries including South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Benin Republic have confirmed participation, alongside host nation Nigeria.

The Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) has commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for approving the budget for the championships, describing it as a key boost to preparations.

The federation also assured that Nigeria is fully ready to stage a successful and well-coordinated continental event.

Team Nigeria cyclists are currently in closed camp in Abuja following the recently concluded national trials, as preparations intensify ahead of the championships.
