JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Resit Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit, conducted for candidates affected by disruptions at certain examination centres.

In a statement shared on Sunday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, and signed by its Public Communication Adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board expressed appreciation to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for providing a window for the resit exercise.

JAMB voiced concern over the nation’s growing vulnerability to advanced forms of digital examination malpractice, stating that while some individuals remain preoccupied with conspiracy theories and spreading discord, the integrity of Nigeria’s education system is under threat.

“During the 2025 examinations, further sophisticated malpractices were uncovered, leading to the cancellation of some results and the arrest of several suspects across the country, some of whom have made useful confessions,” the statement read.

The Board highlighted collusion between some CBT centres and school proprietors, with the complicity of certain accredited operators who reportedly hacked into targeted CBT networks. This allowed them to take control of candidates’ systems and remotely upload answers directly to local servers an operation recently exposed by security agencies.

JAMB emphasised that while the central server remains secure, some of the 882 local servers used during the exams were compromised.

Further fraudulent tactics identified included the use of AI-enhanced photo blending to impersonate candidates often involving current undergraduates—and the use of combined fingerprints from multiple individuals for a single registration.

The Board also uncovered cases involving the extension of Local Area Networks (LAN) from CBT centres to hidden “strong rooms” and the pairing of candidates with hired mercenaries, frequently after intentional disruptions to seating arrangements.

“More than 3,000 candidates nationwide have been identified as either accomplices or beneficiaries of this unprecedented examination fraud.

“As investigations continue, any candidate found culpable will have their results withdrawn, regardless of whether they have already been released,” the statement added.
