The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with a notable reduction in examination malpractice cases compared to previous years.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed the figures during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday. According to him, 96 results were withheld over malpractice concerns, marking a decline from 123 cases recorded the previous year.
“The statistics from the 2025 UTME indicate a significant reduction in examination infractions,” Oloyede stated. “While challenges persist, the various innovations introduced by the Board are yielding positive results.”
A total of 1,957,000 candidates were cleared to sit for the exam, though 71,705 were absent. Results for 39,834 candidates are still under review, including 1,426 undergoing further scrutiny. Additionally, 2,157 candidates experienced fingerprint-related issues suggestive of registration fraud.
Professor Oloyede highlighted growing trends in biometric and identity fraud, noting incidents involving impersonation, double registration, and fraudulent activities by some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. Specifically, 3,656 candidates with suspicious biometric records had their results withheld, while 244 were flagged for involvement in so-called “WhatsApp runs,” illicit online groups claiming to offer leaked exam content.
He named several CBT centres under investigation or already sanctioned for collusion or technical shortcomings, including:
-
Tigh Technologies Limited, Abuja
-
Sascon International School, Maitama, Abuja
-
Wudil Computer Information Technology, Kano
-
Penta M & Centre 2, Tambuwal, Sokoto
-
Adventure Associate, Kano
-
Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria
-
Soronara Ventures, Imo State
-
HSS Amazing, Ogun State
According to the Registrar, 80 suspects are currently being interrogated by law enforcement, with prosecutions underway for those involved in examination fraud.

On underage participation, Oloyede revealed that 41,027 candidates below the age of 16 registered for the exam. Of this number, only 467 were deemed “exceptionally gifted” and allowed to proceed. However, one such candidate was disqualified for malpractice.
Meanwhile, 501 candidates living with disabilities were successfully examined through JAMB’s Equal Opportunity Group across 11 designated centres. Sadly, one of these candidates was also found culpable of impersonation.
Despite the infractions and challenges, the Registrar described the 2025 UTME as “one of the most successful in recent years,” praising improved integrity and enhanced monitoring systems.
Candidates can access their results by texting “UTMERESULT” (as a single word) to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. Result printing will be available at a later date.
Professor Oloyede reaffirmed JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice and pledged sustained reforms to uphold the credibility of public examinations in Nigeria.
