Multiple Grammy-nominated Afrobeat pioneer Femi Anikulapo-Kuti has officially launched his highly anticipated eleventh studio album, Journey Through Life, on 25 April 2025 through Partisan Records.

The ten-track album, now available on CD and digital platforms, continues Femi’s legacy of blending pulsating Afrobeat rhythms, intricate horn arrangements, and socially conscious lyrics. It follows the earlier release of three singles, Politics Don Expose Dem, after 24 Years, and Oga Doctor, which offered a glimpse into the album’s powerful themes.

Journey Through Life marks a milestone in Kuti’s career as the first album he has fully self-produced. Recorded at Legacy Plus Studios in Nigeria and mixed by Sodi at Studio Zarma in Paris, the record sees Femi reflecting on political corruption, social struggles, and the resilience of the human spirit. Tracks such as Corruption Na Stealing, Think My People Think, and Chop and Run showcase his continued commitment to using music as a tool for activism and change.

Speaking on the album, Femi Kuti said:
“Journey Through Life represents my unwavering commitment to the Afrobeat tradition as a weapon against injustice. Through songs like Politics Don Expose Dem and Corruption Na Stealing, I carry forward the revolutionary spirit my father fought for decades ago.”

Since his debut with No Cause for Alarm in 1989, Femi has carved out a distinctive space for himself, building on his father Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat legacy while infusing it with elements of jazz, funk, and traditional Nigerian music. His acclaimed discography includes albums such as Shoki Shoki (1998), Fight to Win (2001), No Place for My Dream (2013), and Stop the Hate (2021), earning him six Grammy nominations.

Known for his dynamic stage presence and virtuosic saxophone skills, Femi continues to address pressing social and political issues through his music while promoting resilience, unity, and cultural pride. His collaborations with international acts like Coldplay, Common, Mos Def, and Red-Hot Chili Peppers have also helped introduce Afrobeat to wider global audiences.

Fans can now stream Journey Through Life on major platforms, while a limited-edition opaque orange vinyl will be available from 16 May 2025.

To celebrate the release, Femi Kuti will host an album listening session and media briefing on 27 April 2025 at the iconic New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, offering media representatives and fans an intimate experience of the new project.
