Brazil and Chile have pledged to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), with a joint initiative to develop a large language model that embodies South America’s diverse cultural and linguistic heritage.
The commitment was made during a bilateral meeting between the science and technology ministers of both countries, where discussions centred on ethical AI practices, data protection, and regional technological autonomy.
According to Brazil’s official government portal, the partnership seeks to promote inclusive innovation while embedding Latin America’s unique identity within AI systems.
The collaboration will feature joint research efforts and knowledge sharing to enhance the region’s standing in the global AI landscape.
Both nations also underscored the importance of increasing female representation in science and technology, calling for greater support to encourage women to pursue careers in the sector.
