The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nantewe Yilwatda, says the ruling party is not worried about recent movements within opposition parties, insisting such developments pose no threat to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during the ongoing purchase and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms by aspirants seeking to contest on the APC platform.

Reacting to reports of political defections among opposition parties, including moves involving Peter Obi, the APC chairman said internal crises within opposition camps were their own concerns and had no impact on the ruling party.
“If someone defects from one opposition party to another, that does not affect APC. Let them sort out their problems. APC remains solid and we are moving forward with strong numbers,” he said.
He dismissed the resignation of some National Assembly members from opposition parties as insignificant, maintaining that such moves could not weaken the ruling party’s dominance.
Yilwatda said the large turnout of aspirants purchasing nomination forms reflects growing public confidence in the APC and the achievements of its administration.
