Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has denied an online report claiming he has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as false and misleading.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Mr. Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
Oyebode said the report circulated by unnamed individuals falsely alleged that Governor Oyebanji and some government officials were being led into the ADC by former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
“For clarity, Governor Oyebanji and all public office holders mentioned remain firmly committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and have no affiliation with the ADC,” Oyebode stated.
He added that since the beginning of the Fourth Republic in 1999, the Governor has consistently aligned with the progressive political movement in Ekiti State.
“He is among the few politicians who have never defected from the progressive fold in the state,” Oyebode noted.

He accused certain individuals of attempting to exploit the Governor’s cordial relationship with Dr. Fayemi in order to create division between him and President Bola Tinubu.
“Unfortunately for these mischief-makers, President Tinubu is a strategic leader who can clearly see through their agenda and antics,” he said.
Oyebode urged Ekiti residents to disregard the “childish media attack,” which he claimed was orchestrated by desperate politicians eyeing the governorship seat.
“Now that INEC has announced the date for the primary election, they should be bold enough to present their ambitions to APC members,” he added.
