Voice of Nigeria (VON), the country’s external broadcasting service, and telecommunications giant Glo have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at fostering sustainable growth for both organisations.

The collaboration was formalised during a courtesy visit by the Director-General of VON, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, to the Glo Communications headquarters in Lagos. He was received by Mr Lawrence Odediran, Head of Glo’s Enterprise Business Group.

In his remarks, Mallam Ndace commended Glo’s significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, particularly in its deployment of submarine cable networks across West Africa and Europe. He highlighted VON’s strengths in producing development-oriented content and cultural programmes in eight languages, comprising four national and four international languages.

The DG expressed VON’s commitment to establishing a long-term partnership with Glo, acknowledging the telecoms provider’s pioneering achievements, such as the introduction of per-second billing and its advanced technologies supporting voice and data services.

Ndace noted that Glo’s digital solutions—such as the Gloshare iReporting app, dedicated internet for streaming, and Learning Management System tools for content creation and engagement monitoring—are essential for VON’s multimedia operations and global terrestrial broadcasts.

He also congratulated Glo’s founder, Chief Mike Adenuga, on his 72nd birthday, praising his vision and entrepreneurial excellence.

In response, Mr Odediran welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a promising and strategic alignment between two reputable national brands. He stressed the need for a long-term partnership and expressed confidence in its mutual benefits.

Commenting on the challenges of misinformation and fake news, Mr Odediran noted that Glo, as a technology provider, continues to offer critical connectivity solutions that support credible information dissemination—making the partnership with VON even more pertinent.

“This initiative is not just a one-off. The quality of the team accompanying the DG shows the seriousness of this mission,” he added.

Mallam Ndace has been actively pursuing strategic alliances with local and international organisations as part of VON’s mission to elevate its profile as a global broadcasting entity.
