Novak Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the 2025 Italian Open, citing ongoing challenges in his current season. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has yet to secure a clay-court victory this year, following early exits in Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Miami.

The organisers did not provide a specific reason for the 37-year-old Djokovic’s withdrawal.

The Serbian’s wait for a 100th ATP title continues after pulling out of the Masters event in Rome, a tournament he has won six times, most recently in 2022.

Djokovic has yet to claim a title this season after a difficult start to 2025.

His last victory came at the Paris Olympics last year, held at Roland Garros, the venue for the upcoming French Open in May/June.

Djokovic’s recent form has been disappointing, having lost the Miami Open final to Czech teenager Jakub Mensik last month. He also faced early exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid, where he was eliminated by Matteo Arnaldi in the Madrid Open and by Alejandro Tabilo in Monte Carlo.
