Tottenham Rejects Takeover Interest, Insists Club Not for Sale

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, has rejected two preliminary takeover approaches and reiterated that the Premier League club is not for sale.

Speculation over a potential ownership change intensified last week after Daniel Levy stepped down as executive chairman, ending nearly 25 years at the helm.

In a statement issued late on Sunday, Tottenham said ENIC had “unequivocally rejected” two separate expressions of interest  one from Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance Limited, and another from a consortium led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

ENIC, which owns 86.5% of Tottenham’s shares, said any deal to acquire its stake would trigger a mandatory offer for the remaining shares under Rule 9 of the UK Takeover Code.

“The Board of the Club and ENIC confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC has no intention to accept any such offer to acquire its interest in the Club,” the statement read.

Under takeover rules, both PCP and the Firehawk-led consortium must, by 5pm on 5 October 2025, either announce a firm intention to make an offer or declare they do not intend to pursue one.

ENIC is majority-owned by British businessman Joe Lewis and his family, who also control private equity firm Tavistock Group.

The North London club has undergone leadership changes in recent months. In April, Vinai Venkatesham was appointed chief executive, while Peter Charrington became non-executive chairman a newly created role following Levy’s departure. Tottenham stressed at the time that “there would be no changes to the ownership or shareholder structure.”
