President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his dedication to advancing interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and international cooperation, stressing that Nigeria remains a nation open to friendship, anchored in faith, and committed to building bridges of understanding across the world.

The Nigerian leader made this known via his verified X handle @officialABAT, following a dinner held in his honour by His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State to the Vatican, upon his arrival in Rome.

President Tinubu revealed that his discussion with Cardinal Parolin was conducted in a spirit of fraternity and shared purpose, centred on universal values such as peace, mutual respect, and global solidarity.

“I conveyed Nigeria’s profound appreciation for the Vatican’s longstanding goodwill and reaffirmed our commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation in an increasingly polarised world,” he stated.

“As always, Nigeria stands as a nation open to friendship, grounded in faith, and dedicated to fostering mutual understanding across cultural and religious divides.”

He added that the meeting took place ahead of the solemn Mass marking the beginning of the pontificate of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, and served as an opportunity to deepen diplomatic and spiritual ties between Nigeria and the Vatican.
