The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suiwaba Sa’id Ahmed, have expressed immense pride and admiration for 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu of Yobe State, following her remarkable achievement as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria under the banner of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa triumphed over more than 20,000 contestants from 69 countries including native English-speaking nations to claim the top honour.
In a joint statement released by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Boriowo Folashade, the Ministers praised Nafisa’s “brilliance, determination, and discipline,” describing her victory as “a proud moment for Nigeria and a powerful endorsement of the Federal Government’s drive to revitalise the education sector and raise globally competitive students.”
The Ministry also extended deep appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for his consistent investment in education reforms and instructional materials, which have helped create a nurturing environment for students like Nafisa to thrive.
“This outstanding accomplishment reflects the strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national governments,” the statement read. “It is clear evidence that our shared commitment to delivering quality education is producing results.”
Special recognition was also given to Dr. Abass Idris, Yobe State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, for his relentless efforts in improving educational institutions and fostering academic excellence across the state.

The Ministry acknowledged the vital role played by NTIC’s management and staff in supporting Nafisa’s academic journey. Commending the support of her parents and teachers, the Ministers emphasised that their guidance and encouragement highlight the power of community in nurturing excellence.
“This is not just a personal victory; it is a national milestone that affirms the capabilities of Nigerian students to excel on the global stage.
“Miss Nafisa’s success reflects the kind of youth the Ministry is determined to raise globally competitive, intellectually empowered, and rooted in national pride. It reinforces the Ministry’s agenda to continue investing in instructional materials, teacher training, and student development to ensure that Nigerian children receive education that meets international standards,” the Ministers stated.
The Federal Ministry of Education encourages students across the country to be inspired by Nafisa’s achievement and reaffirms its commitment to building a future where many more Nigerian students can stand tall among the world’s brightest.
