The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has officially unveiled its 60th anniversary logo and announced the lineup of events for its October celebrations.

The logo launch signals the beginning of a series of events to celebrate six decades of dedication to excellence in sports journalism, advocacy, and development.

Established in 1964, SWAN has become a pillar of sports reporting and promotion across Nigeria.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the Association’s headquarters, featured a commemorative logo designed in green and white. The design prominently displays the number “60” alongside the iconic SWAN emblem, with a ribbon bearing the inscription “Years Anniversary” to highlight the milestone.

SWAN President, Mr Isaiah Benjamin, described the unveiling as a significant moment in the Association’s history.

“As we unveil this logo, we are not merely celebrating the past 60 years but also reaffirming our shared commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the advancement of sport through responsible journalism,” he stated.

Benjamin announced that the anniversary celebrations, scheduled for October, would include a range of activities.

These will feature public lectures, awards ceremonies, sporting events for media professionals, tributes to sports legends, and a gala night honouring long-time supporters and contributors to SWAN’s mission.

The celebration aligns with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, adding to the national significance of the occasion.

Over the past 60 years, SWAN has played a crucial role in shaping the sports media landscape in Nigeria, advocating for ethical reporting and influencing discussions on sports policy and inclusion at all levels.

The SWAN President called on media professionals, stakeholders, partners, and the general public to join in commemorating this landmark anniversary and to support the Association’s continued growth and impact.
