UEFA Seeks Answers from FIFA Over Infantino’s Presidency

UEFA has written to FIFA seeking answers to 42 questions concerning Gianni Infantino’s leadership, including the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise project and the FIFA Peace Prize, British media reported on Monday.

UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis reportedly sent the letter to his FIFA counterpart, Mattias Grafstrom, requesting responses by November 2.

The letter covers 12 topics and calls for immediate clarification on decisions taken under Infantino’s presidency, according to Sky Sports and other British media outlets.

“These questions require answers now,” Theodoridis wrote.

“They cannot be deferred until the next meeting of the FIFA Council , nor can future governance reforms substitute for scrutiny of decisions already taken and accountability for them.”

UEFA has led calls for Infantino to resign following his proposal for the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), which has since been abandoned.

The project involved establishing a company to manage the commercial interests of FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, and selling a minority stake to private investors.

The latest development follows Infantino’s apology to the FIFA Council last week, when he asked members to submit questions about his governance in writing for him to address at the council’s next meeting on December 16.

However, UEFA is seeking answers before that meeting, insisting that accountability for previous decisions should not be delayed pending future governance reforms.

Reuters said it had not seen a copy of the letter. UEFA and FIFA did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment.

Infantino, 56, is seeking re-election in March 2027, with prospective candidates required to submit their nominations by November 18.
