The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the promotion of 18 senior officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM).
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Corps’ spokesperson, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, Akume described the promotion as a significant step towards strengthening the leadership and administrative capacity of the FRSC.
He noted that the move was aimed at enhancing the corps’ operational effectiveness in advancing road safety and reducing accidents on Nigerian roads.
Of the 18 officers promoted, three, ACM Y.K. Nadabo, ACM J.A. Akpa, and ACM P. Okoyeocha, are to proceed on statutory retirement with effect from Monday, 19 May.
The remaining 15 officers who remain in active service include: ACM T.L. Bamigbayan, ACM J.O. Asolu, ACM A.G. Sanusi, ACM A.M. Hassan, ACM C.O. Asom, ACM J.W. Toby, and ACM I. Abubakar.
Others are ACM A.O. Odeleye-Oladayo, ACM O.M. Ibirongbe, ACM E. Odiete, ACM M.O. Olonusaye, ACM E. SonAllah, ACM U.A. Ibrahim, ACM A.R. Aremu, and ACM J.S. Uduabba.

Senator Akume explained that the rigorous yet transparent promotion process reflected the Tinubu administration’s commitment to enhancing the corps’ management structure, enabling it to better address contemporary road safety challenges.
In his response, the Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing the elevation as a well-earned recognition of their expertise and dedication.
He expressed confidence that the promotion would further motivate them to continue working tirelessly in support of FRSC’s mission to make Nigeria’s roads safer.
“With the promotion of these officers, the corps is now better positioned to fulfil its mandate of reducing road crashes and saving lives,” he said.
