The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), the nominee of President Bola Tinubu, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The confirmation followed his screening at the Senate plenary on Thursday, where lawmakers assessed his credentials and responded to questions on electoral reforms and institutional integrity.
Professor Amupitan, a 58-year-old professor of law and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) at the University of Jos, Plateau State, was accompanied to the session by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo and other dignitaries.
