The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has received a new Permanent Secretary, Engr. Faruk Yabo, following the formal handover by his predecessor, Dr Mary Ogbe.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Deputy Director and Head of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs Kania Andeyaba.
During a brief handover ceremony attended by senior officials and staff, Engr. Yabo appealed for the support and cooperation of the Ministry’s workforce, assuring them of his intention to build upon the solid foundation established by Dr Ogbe.
“I urge you all to extend the same level of support and cooperation to me as you did to my predecessor,” he said.
Engr. Yabo expressed his appreciation for Dr Ogbe’s contributions to the Ministry and pledged to collaborate closely with staff to advance its mandate. He emphasised his commitment to enhancing the Ministry’s operations by building on existing achievements.
In her farewell remarks, Dr Ogbe expressed heartfelt gratitude for the cordial and productive working relationships she enjoyed during her tenure. She commended the dedication of the staff and encouraged them to support Engr. Yabo in the same spirit.

Acknowledging that transitions are an inherent aspect of public service, Dr Ogbe underscored the importance of continuity and adaptability. She urged the staff to sustain their momentum and strive for national progress.
In a gesture of humility, she sought forgiveness from anyone she may have unintentionally offended, reaffirming that all her actions were guided by a sincere commitment to public service.
The Director of Human Resources, Mrs Ijioma Idika, praised Dr Ogbe’s leadership, noting her encouragement of staff to pursue well-founded initiatives. She expressed confidence that Engr. Yabo would uphold this standard and foster a conducive working environment.
The Director of General Services, Mrs Toyin Showemimo, also lauded Dr Ogbe for her unwavering support and wished her success in her future endeavours, while extending a warm welcome to the incoming Permanent Secretary.
Similarly, the Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Engr. Obadiah Nkom, thanked Dr Ogbe for her leadership and guidance, expressing optimism that her redeployment would open new avenues for excellence in her career. He also pledged his full support and cooperation to Engr. Yabo.
