The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully concluded its primary elections ahead of the 2026 Area Council chairmanship polls in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with candidates emerging across all six councils.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Chris Hassan, who announced the results, described the elections as free and fair across the participating councils.
In Kuje Area Council, Mr Zacharia Danlami emerged unopposed after his only challenger, Mr Michael Jigu, withdrew from the race. Danlami secured all 30 delegate votes.
In Abaji Area Council, Mr Musa Biliyanmu, the sole aspirant, also polled all 30 votes to emerge as the candidate.
In the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Zadna Dintani won with 24 votes, defeating Mr William Gaje who garnered 12 votes.

In Gwagwalada, Mr Kasim Mohammed emerged victorious with 19 votes, ahead of Mr Rabiu Adamu who received 11 votes.
For Kwali Area Council, Mr Harruna Mohammed won with 13 votes, defeating Mr Daniel Ibrahim with 11 votes and Mr Shashim Zaka with six.
In Bwari Area Council, which had six aspirants, Mr Julius Adamu clinched victory with 19 votes. He defeated Mr Harruna Mohammed and Mr Ibrahim Dauda, who each scored one vote; Mr Bitrus Jibada, who secured six votes; and Mr Zaka Bello, who received no votes.
“I am pleased to announce that the primaries were peaceful and conducted in line with our party’s principles,” Hassan said.
He urged all aspirants and candidates to work together to ensure the PDP’s success in the 2026 elections.
