2026 Electoral Act: INEC Sensitises Plateau Stakeholders

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom has announced that the portal for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will soon be activated in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Uyo on Wednesday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Obo Effanga, urged residents of the state to seize this opportunity to register.

Effanga added that the CVR exercise would also provide an opportunity for physical registration at the local government council headquarters in the state, beginning August 25.

He urged those who have already started the online registration process to visit INEC’s state or local government offices to complete it.

“It is the same process. INEC now has a portal where people can register as voters. You can begin the process online and only visit our offices for data capturing.

“The process will soon begin, and it will also handle transfer cases, misspelling of names, mistakes in addresses, among others. You can start from the portal in the comfort of your home,” he said.

The REC cautioned against multiple registrations, saying, “In case of card loss, the affected person should request a reprint and not attempt to register twice.”
