A group of 25 lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun State House of Assembly has publicly reaffirmed its loyalty to the party and the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, dismissing recent rumours suggesting mass defections.
The lawmakers, led by Speaker Adewale Egbedun, made this declaration during a press conference held on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Addressing the media, Egbedun said the briefing became necessary to set the record straight and clear the air on what he described as unfounded and misleading speculation.
“We felt it necessary to speak directly to you today not just to clear the air but to state the facts as they are,” the Speaker said.
Egbedun emphasized that all 25 PDP lawmakers remain committed to the mandate given to them by their constituents and have no intention of leaving the party. He stressed that the House is united, stable, and focused on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Osun State.

“There is no division in this House. There is no defection. There is no crisis. The rumours flying around are simply rumours. And we are not in the business of chasing shadows,” he affirmed.
The Speaker praised his colleagues for their steadfastness and loyalty, describing them as courageous representatives who continue to prioritize the needs of their people.
“I must thank my colleagues, the 25 PDP lawmakers, who continue to show character, courage, and clarity. You have not wavered. You have not been distracted. You remain true to the people who sent you here. You are sons of the soil, and I am proud to lead this team.”
Egbedun also restated the group’s unwavering support for the leadership of the PDP and Governor Adeleke’s administration, encouraging the public to disregard the defection rumours and rally behind the government’s efforts to transform the state.
“To the good people of Osun we say this: Ignore the noise. What you see here is unity. What you see is focus. What you see is commitment.”
He concluded by assuring that the lawmakers would continue to treat the mandate they received on the platform of the PDP as sacred and would uphold the trust placed in them by the electorate.
