Oba Ladoja to Chair 2025 World Egungun Festival

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has been named Chairman of the 2025 World Egungun Festival by the Oyo State Government. The festival will be held from 14 to 15 May at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

The appointment was confirmed by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, during a courtesy visit to the monarch. Oba Ladoja has graciously accepted the role, which highlights the cultural significance of the Yoruba tradition.

According to Olatunbosun, the visit aimed to inform the traditional ruler of the Ministry’s plans and to seek both his consent to chair the festival and his royal blessings.

The World Egungun Festival is a major cultural event that attracts participants and spectators from around the world. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural values, unity, and tourism through such celebrations.
