In a significant move to advance tourism development and empower young leaders across Nigeria, Torrista, the tourism platform under Sterling Bank’s Renewable Energy, Mobility, and Tourism division, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria. This marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at fostering growth and leadership in the tourism sector.

The MoU was officially signed on Friday, April 25, 2025, at a ceremony held at Sterling Towers in Lagos. Representing Torrista was Abiola Adelana, Head of the Tourism Business Unit at Sterling Bank, while Oluwatoyin Atanda, the 2025 President of JCI Nigeria, signed on behalf of JCI.

The event was attended by key stakeholders from both organizations, underscoring the significance of the partnership. Among the attendees were Akinkunmi Akingbogun, Group Head for Mobility at Sterling Bank, Yudhish Rohee, International Vice President of JCI, and leaders from various JCI chapters across Nigeria, alongside members of Sterling Bank’s tourism team.

Adelana highlighted the shared vision that underpins the partnership, stating, “At Torrista, we believe tourism is about more than just destinations; it’s about connecting people, cultures, and opportunities. Through this collaboration with JCI Nigeria, we are empowering a new generation to share Nigeria’s stories, unlock the potential of our cities and rural communities, and drive sustainable economic growth.”

She described the partnership as a key step toward youth-driven transformation.

“JCI Nigeria is committed to developing young leaders who foster positive change. This partnership with Torrista blends leadership development with tourism promotion, creating new avenues for young people to impact their communities, innovate in the travel sector, and showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage to the world,” said Atanda.

The partnership will introduce a series of strategic initiatives, including:

  • Appointing Torrista as the official tour partner for JCI conferences.
  • Establishing Sterling Bank as the preferred banking partner for JCI.
  • Promoting and featuring JCI’s travel experiences as bookable packages on Torrista for seamless bookings by both JCI members and non-members.
  • Engaging in other co-branded efforts.
  • Introducing Torrista to the global JCI network to expand business opportunities for both parties.

Yudhish Rohee, International Vice President of JCI, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “This collaboration exemplifies the power of partnership. When organizations like Torrista and JCI join forces, they ignite innovation and resilience in our communities. I am proud to witness this historic moment and look forward to the impact this collaboration will have across Nigeria and beyond.”

This MoU marks a significant milestone in Torrista’s mission to redefine how tourism is experienced and promoted across Africa. It also reinforces JCI Nigeria’s commitment to developing young, active citizens who will lead the way for a brighter future. As both organisations move forward, stakeholders can look forward to groundbreaking initiatives that will highlight Nigeria’s tourism potential, promote cultural appreciation, and create lasting opportunities for communities and youth nationwide.
