Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions after a resounding 5–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on 27 April 2025. The win not only secured their second Premier League crown but also marked their 20th top-flight title, drawing them level with Manchester United for the most in English football history.

The match began with an early scare for Liverpool as Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke opened the scoring with a header in the 12th minute. However, Liverpool quickly responded with a ruthless display. Goals from Luis Díaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah turned the match around, with an own goal by Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie completing the rout.

Mohamed Salah, who scored his 28th league goal of the season during the match, was instrumental in Liverpool’s success. His consistent brilliance throughout the campaign was a key factor in the club’s triumph.

This victory capped off a remarkable debut season for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who became the first in the club’s history to win the league title in his inaugural season. Speaking after the match, Slot said:

“This team has shown incredible character and resilience. Every player, every staff member contributed to this success. It’s a proud moment for all of us.”

Celebrations erupted at Anfield as fans and players alike revelled in the achievement. The festivities continued in the dressing room, where Trent Alexander-Arnold led the singing and Darwin Núñez was seen celebrating with a cigar.

Liverpool’s title win ended Manchester City’s four-year hold on the Premier League trophy. Their triumph was further confirmed following Arsenal’s draw against Crystal Palace, which mathematically ensured Liverpool could not be caught.

Looking ahead, Liverpool is already preparing for next season, with reinforcements expected to arrive, including Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The victory not only restored Liverpool to the summit of English football but also served as a strong statement of their ambition to dominate both domestically and in Europe for years to come.
