The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, was represented by Dr Ayodele Bakare at GISEC Global 2025, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where he shared valuable insights into Nigeria’s cybersecurity landscape and the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity framework in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Dr Zareefa Mustapha and Dr Aisha Salau also took part in various sessions and cyber drills during the event, providing a platform to highlight Nigeria’s growing contributions to the global cybersecurity community.
GISEC Global 2025 brought together over 25,000 professionals from more than 160 countries and hosted upwards of 750 international cybersecurity brands. Themed “Securing an AI-Powered Future,” the conference addressed both the challenges and opportunities posed by AI within cybersecurity.

Notable features of this year’s event included the introduction of the OT Security Conference Track focusing on the convergence of IT and operational technology, and the Africa Cyber Resilience Initiative, which aims to build stronger continent-wide cyber defences through collaborative roundtables involving CISOs and national authorities.
The GISEC AI segment spotlighted urgent issues such as polymorphic malware, adversarial AI, and deepfake threats, positioning the event as the year’s most prominent AI-focused cybersecurity gathering.
NITDA’s participation reinforced Nigeria’s commitment to global collaboration in cybersecurity and its alignment with national digital transformation objectives.
