Technology giant Meta has announced the appointment of Arun Srinivas as the new Managing Director and Head of India, marking a significant leadership transition in one of the company’s most important markets.
Srinivas, who currently serves as Director and Head of Ads Business at Meta India, will assume his new responsibilities from 1 July 2025. He succeeds Manish Chopra, who resigned from the role in 2023.
In a statement issued by the company, Meta said: “We are delighted to confirm Arun Srinivas as our new India Head. His proven leadership and extensive experience across digital and consumer sectors will be instrumental in deepening Meta’s relationships with Indian users, businesses, and the wider ecosystem.”
Srinivas brings over two decades of industry experience, having held key roles at Ola, Unilever, Reebok, and private equity firm WestBridge Capital. At Ola, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Global Chief Marketing Officer, while at Unilever he led operations in categories spanning personal care, foods, and beverages across South Asia.
Reacting to the appointment, Srinivas said: “India is a dynamic and fast-evolving market, and I am honoured to lead Meta at such a pivotal time. I look forward to working closely with partners and stakeholders to support innovation, drive business growth, and make a positive impact across the country.”

Meta’s platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp have a combined user base of over 700 million in India, making it the company’s largest market globally by user numbers.
Srinivas’s appointment comes at a time when Meta faces increased regulatory scrutiny in India. In late 2024, the Competition Commission of India fined the company over alleged anticompetitive data practices and imposed a temporary restriction on data-sharing between WhatsApp and its advertising business. Although that order has since been paused by a tribunal, the regulatory environment remains a key area of focus.
Industry analysts say Srinivas’s promotion signals Meta’s intention to strengthen local leadership and rebuild trust among Indian businesses and regulators.
