The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), Engineer Jane Egerton-Idehen, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to delivering quality satellite broadcasting services to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
She gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at his office in Abuja.
Highlighting the collaborative relationship between both organisations, Engineer Egerton-Idehen disclosed that NIGCOMSAT had been transmitting NYSC Television signals globally via its free-to-air satellite technology since February this year.

She stated that the primary purpose of her visit was to reaffirm NIGCOMSAT’s unwavering dedication to its partnership with the NYSC and to improve on the quality of services being rendered.
While congratulating Brigadier General Nafiu on his recent appointment, the NIGCOMSAT boss commended the Scheme for its invaluable contributions to national unity, integration, and development. She particularly praised the NYSC for grooming Nigerian graduates into productive citizens equipped with leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
Engineer Egerton-Idehen also acknowledged the significant impact of Corps Members serving with NIGCOMSAT, noting their contributions to innovation and operational excellence.
“In the past ten years, we have had over 2,000 Corps Members serve in our organisation, and I can proudly say they have made meaningful contributions through the innovations they brought with them,” she noted.
In his response, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed gratitude to NIGCOMSAT for providing the platform that enables NYSC Television to broadcast its programmes to a global audience, thereby enhancing public awareness of the Scheme’s activities.
He reaffirmed the NYSC’s resolve to continue pursuing the objectives for which it was established 52 years ago.
“Since 22nd May 1973, we have grown stronger each year, and we remain committed to achieving even greater milestones by repositioning the Scheme to address the current needs of our country,” he said.
General Nafiu further assured his guest that his administration would prioritise the enhancement of NYSC Radio and Television content, ensuring it continues to inform the public on developments within and around the Scheme.
