The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Musbau Ashafa, Executive Chairman of the Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), who Ashafa died on Friday following a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, described Ashafa’s death as a painful loss to the party and the community.
“The news of your passing, dear Hon. Musbau Ashafa, has left me with a heavy heart,” Ojelabi said.
“As a fellow party member and brother, your departure is a painful loss not just for me, but for our entire party.
“As Chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, you played a pivotal role in grassroots politics and left an indelible mark on our community. Your dedication, passion, and leadership inspired many, and your legacy will continue to motivate future generations.”

Ojelabi said he had the privilege of working alongside Ashafa since his days as Chairman of the old Ojo Local Government.
“Your tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and selfless service earned you respect and admiration across board.
“Your ability to unite people, promote development, and lead with integrity will be greatly missed.
“It is particularly heartbreaking that you passed away just weeks before the local government elections and shortly before completing your eight-year tenure.”
He added: “As State Party Chairman, I am deeply affected by this loss. However, we must submit to the will of God, who alone understands all things.”
Ojelabi extended his condolences to the late chairman’s family, friends, political associates, and the wider APC family.
“May your soul rest in peace, dear Ashafa. Your contributions to our party and the development of our community will not be forgotten.
“May the Almighty God comfort your family and grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May your memory remain a blessing and source of inspiration to all,” he said.
Ashafa was serving his second term as council chairman at the time of his death. He had previously served as Chairman of the APC in Oto-Awori LCDA and was also Chairman of the former Ojo Local Government during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
