Iran’s Chief Justice, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, has issued a stern warning to individuals collaborating with Israel widely regarded as the country’s arch-enemy vowing swift and severe punishment.
“Without leniency and with full determination, they will face the harshest punishment in accordance with the applicable laws and with the utmost urgency,” Mohseni-Ejei stated on Monday, according to the Tasnim news agency.
In Iran, cooperation with Israel or foreign intelligence services is frequently punishable by death.
The judiciary head emphasised that anyone detained for such offences should be brought to trial immediately, with verdicts delivered promptly and punishments carried out swiftly and publicly particularly in light of the current state of conflict.
State-affiliated Mizan news agency also reported that Iran had executed another individual convicted of espionage for Israel.
