Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has called on the people of the state to unite and support his administration in its quest for sustainable development.
Otu made the appeal on Sunday in Calabar during a solemn assembly themed “The Lord Reigns.” He stated that his administration had laid a solid foundation for stability and progress in the state.
According to the governor, more developmental projects will be implemented if stakeholders rally behind the government’s policies and programmes.
“We can all see the achievements of our government in two years. It’s not by our making, it’s by the grace and guidance of God.
“What we need in the state is unity, Cross River will never remain the same if we unite in the interest of the state,” he said.
The governor said the time had come for Cross River to rise and shine, saying, “my administration has successfully repositioned the state for greatness”

Also speaking, the governor’s Wife, Eyoanwan Otu, said that the event was to remind Cross River people of the unchanging truth about God’s supremacy in the affairs of humans.
“The world is facing difficult and uncertain seasons. Economic pressure, insecurity, unrest, immorality and natural disasters are everywhere.
“In the midst of these, we are here to remind ourselves of the powerful and unchanging truth that God reigns supreme,” she said.
The governor’s wife who read the opening lesson stated that as God’s children, humans should be hopeful regardless of the realities in the society.
The event featured song renditions, bible readings, prayers, distribution of bibles and sermon. Attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, clerics, opinion leaders among others.
