Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) to drive the growth of the state’s creative economy.
The pledge was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Brian Etuk.
Etuk said the governor made the commitment during a courtesy visit to Gombe by Dr Ali Nuhu, the Corporation’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Governor Yahaya lauded the NFC for its achievements across regional, continental, and global platforms in the film production value chain.
He reiterated his administration’s determination to position Gombe as a creative hub by fully harnessing the state’s abundant creative potential.
“The North-East region of the country, through institutionalised partnerships and collaborative mechanisms, can significantly boost training, capacity building, youth empowerment, and job creation,” Yahaya stated.
He added that over the past six years, the state government had initiated and supported the establishment of innovative creative enterprises to strengthen the state’s economy.

In his remarks, Dr Nuhu commended the Gombe State government’s deliberate and well-conceived socio-economic development programmes and projects.
According to him, these initiatives demonstrate the potential of creative enterprises to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth.
He noted that Gombe stood to benefit greatly from partnership-driven growth through the implementation of robust creative economy blueprints capable of promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
“The NFC is well-positioned to deliver effectively and to support the growth of local talent,” Nuhu said.
He highlighted the ongoing construction of a Mega Cinematography Centre in Gombe, which will serve both the state and neighbouring states within the NFC’s North East Zonal Operations.
“The training and retraining of youths, as well as capacity building in film and creative enterprises particularly in digitised content creation and monetisation cannot be overemphasised,” he added.
