American singer Chris Brown has been released on £5 million bail by a UK court following charges of grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023.

The 35-year-old R&B artist was accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in Mayfair. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of 2023 while Brown was in the UK on tour.

Initially denied bail, the singer was later granted conditional release. As part of the bail terms, Brown was required to surrender his passport, although the court made provisions for him to travel internationally for professional commitments. He must also reside at an address approved by the court.

The ruling allows Brown to proceed with his global “Breezy Bowl XX” tour, which is scheduled to begin on 8 June in Amsterdam.

Brown appeared in court alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, popularly known as Hoody Baby, who faces similar charges relating to the incident. Both men are expected to return to court on 20 June.

The case has drawn significant public attention, given Brown’s past legal troubles and high-profile career. He remains presumed innocent pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
