The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 30 Controllers of Corrections (CCs) to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG).
This aligns with the Board’s commitment to merit-based advancement, professional excellence, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Among those promoted are 27 general duty officers, recognized for their exceptional dedication, leadership qualities, and operational competence across various formations nationwide.
In addition, three professional officers were elevated in recognition of their specialised expertise and outstanding service in the fields of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health.
According to a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Umar, the promotion exercise is a reflection of the Service’s reform agenda under the Renewed Hope initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to redouble their commitment to service delivery, strategic leadership, and the core mandates of reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates.
He emphasised that the promotions serve not only as a reward for outstanding performance but also as a call to greater responsibility, in line with global best practices in correctional management.
The Controller General reiterated the Service’s dedication to building a disciplined, professional, and motivated workforce capable of meeting the complex demands of modern correctional services and public safety.
