Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on signing Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as part of his plans to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £52 million in 2023, has endured a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge, with injuries limiting his impact. Despite these setbacks, the 27-year-old French international has managed 14 goals and five assists across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, demonstrating glimpses of the form that made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
Arteta is said to admire Nkunku’s versatility and technical ability, viewing him as a potential asset in Arsenal’s fluid attacking system. The move would echo the club’s successful acquisition of Kai Havertz from Chelsea, who has since become a key figure in the Gunners’ midfield.

However, Arsenal are not alone in their interest. Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid, have all been linked with the forward. Nkunku is reportedly keen on joining a Champions League club, a factor that may strengthen Arsenal’s position in the race for his signature.
Chelsea, under pressure to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, are understood to be open to selling Nkunku but may prefer to offload him to a foreign club rather than a direct domestic competitor. Nevertheless, a strong offer from Arsenal could persuade the Blues to reconsider.
The Gunners are expected to be active in the summer transfer window following their second consecutive Premier League runner-up finish. Arteta has signalled his intent to reshape the squad, with a number of departures anticipated and key reinforcements targeted.
