The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the constituency’s former representative, Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Umar Gurama Abubakar of the Federal University Kashere, said the APC secured 41,121 votes to defeat the Labour Party (LP), which polled 1,681 votes.

The APM candidate received 872 votes, while the NDP and APP secured 707 and 298 votes, respectively.
Prof. Abubakar said a total of 47,301 votes were cast, comprising 46,551 valid votes and 750 rejected ballots.
With 41,121 votes, Kallamu secured the highest number of votes and was declared winner of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election.
The election was conducted across 903 polling units in 31 Registration Areas covering the three Local Government Areas that make up the constituency.
