Team Anambra on Wednesday secured more medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.

Dandy Ogbonna, representing the Taekwondo team, claimed a silver medal after losing to his Delta State opponent in the final of the Kyorugii middleweight bout held at the Illisan Townhall, Sagamu.

Ogbonna had earlier advanced to the final with a knockout victory over his Oyo State counterpart.

Ogbonna had also opened Anambra’s medal count with a bronze in the male poomsae category of Taekwondo, following a win against Bauchi.

Jude Nwafor, coach of the Anambra Taekwondo team, said the victories had boosted the team’s morale and strengthened their resolve to perform better in upcoming matches.

He expressed a desire for more top-place finishes but praised his athletes for their spirited effort.

“It could have been better. I would have preferred gold medals, but we still have chances to win more laurels,” he said.
