Wizkid to headline opening of 2026 Detty December Fest

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Wizkid, is set to headline the opening concert of the 2026 Detty December Fest scheduled to hold in Lagos from Dec. 18 to Dec. 30.

The organisers, Livespot360, disclosed in a statement on Friday in Lagos that Wizkid would perform at the grand opening concert, which will feature an expanded two-stage entertainment experience.

According to the organisers, Wizkid’s performance at the opening concert will mark his return to the city where his music career began and reinforce the position of Lagos as a major destination for global entertainment during the December festive season.

Livespot360 added that additional artistes for the concert would be announced in the coming months.

The organisers revealed that this year’s edition would feature the Detty Festival Stage, which will host headline performances and the Detty Pulse Stage, dedicated to nightlife, cultural programming, emerging artistes and daily entertainment activities throughout the festival.

The organisers said festivalgoers would also experience headline concerts, aerial shows, emerging talent showcases, food and lifestyle activations, DJ-led nights as well as family-friendly attractions.

Other attractions will include a Christmas Grotto, Gen Z Republik and pop-up market stalls, alongside experiences celebrating the state’s music, culture and creative economy.

Deola Art-Alade, Founder and Group CEO of the 360Co, said the organisers were building on the success of the inaugural edition by creating more opportunities for artistes, brands and audiences to experience African culture.

“Last year proved there was a real appetite for a festival of this scale in Lagos. This year, we are building on that momentum.

” Not just by growing the festival, but by creating more opportunities for artistes, brands and audiences to experience the best of African culture together.”

Dare Art-Alade, Co-Founder and Group Chief Creative Officer of The 360Co, said the Detty Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artistes to perform alongside established stars.

The organisers said the festival was part of Livespot’s continued investment in developing world-class live entertainment experiences in Africa.

They noted that Livespot had produced several major entertainment events across the continent, including bringing American rapper Cardi B to Nigeria and Ghana for her first performances in the countries.

The organisers said tickets for Detty December Fest 2026 were already on sale, adding that the festival is expected to further position Lagos as a destination for African music, culture, entertainment and tourism during the December season.

The festival follows a successful debut edition which attracted more than 40,000 festival-goers to Ilubirin, Lagos.

The maiden edition featured international and African artistes including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Juma Jux, Diamond Platnumz.
