The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on Sunday expressed condolences to the nation following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The message was conveyed in a statement issued by the JNI Secretary-General, Professor Khalid Aliyu.
“To Allah we belong, and to Him shall we return,” the statement began. “The Jama’atu Nasril Islam received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London.”
The Sultan described the late president as a leader known for his simplicity, restraint, and calm disposition.

“In all the roles he occupied, he remained committed to the ideals he believed would advance national development,” the statement read. “Like every leader, his tenure came with both challenges and efforts directed towards nation-building.”
JNI paid tribute to Buhari’s decades of service to the country and prayed that Allah (SWT) accepts the good he pursued, forgives his shortcomings, and grants him mercy.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Government and People of Nigeria, and particularly to the people of Katsina State,” the Sultan added.
“May Allah grant them patience and comfort during this difficult time.
“Let us all be reminded that both leadership and life are trusts that will one day come to an end, for which we will be held accountable before Allah, the Most High.
“May we live our lives in ways that earn Allah’s pleasure. Ameen,” he concluded.
