Nigerian Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, have departed Abuja for London on the directive of President Bola Tinubu following the announcement of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice-President, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

President Tinubu mourned the passing of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at approximately 4:30 p.m.
He directed Vice-President Shettima and Chief of Staff Gbajabiamila to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
Buhari, who was 82, served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023. He had earlier served as Military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
President Tinubu has ordered that national flags be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
