First Lady Calls for Inclusive, Quality Education Investment

The Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the recruitment of more professional teachers across the country and increased investment in their growth and welfare.

She made the call in her message on Sunday in Abuja to mark the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, themed “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage.”

Mrs Tinubu described teaching as one of society’s noblest professions and emphasised the need to attract more people into the field through better support and incentives.

“There is an urgent need to draw more attention to teaching, being one of society’s noblest professions,” she said.

The First Lady stressed that addressing the shortage of teachers required deliberate policies and sustained empowerment for educators.

“The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu, who described teachers as “true heroes,” commended their dedication to shaping young minds and building the nation’s future.

“Teachers are true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations. As a lifelong teacher myself, I salute you all on this special day. Happy World Teachers’ Day 2025,” she added.
