Uganda’s Parliament has approved a national budget of 72.4 trillion Ugandan shillings (approximately $20 billion) for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, maintaining a similar level of spending to the previous year.
The budget prioritises sectors such as agro-industrialisation, tourism, and mineral development, particularly in preparation for the country’s anticipated commencement of commercial crude oil production in 2026.
Key allocations include:

The budget also allocates Shs1.17 trillion for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway and Shs2.2 trillion for the upgrade and rehabilitation of national roads and bridges.
Finance Minister Matia Kasaija is scheduled to formally present the budget to Parliament on 12 June 2025, providing more detailed allocations.
