President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s approval of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) 2025 Appropriation Bill.

The request was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Wednesday’s plenary session.

Citing Section 299 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which vests legislative authority over the Federal Capital Territory in the National Assembly, President Tinubu presented the proposed budget for consideration.

The letter stated that the 2025 FCT budget prioritises investment in healthcare services, job creation, youth empowerment, social welfare, educational infrastructure, and agricultural productivity.

He added that 85 per cent of the capital allocation would be committed to the completion of ongoing projects, while 15 per cent would fund new initiatives, an approach aimed at sustaining the provision of essential infrastructure and social amenities in the FCT.

President Tinubu expressed optimism that the proposal would receive prompt legislative attention and swift passage.
