Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has unveiled his vision for a second term in office ahead of the governorship election scheduled for 8 November 2025.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo highlighted key areas of focus, including the development of smart cities, a state-wide rail network, healthcare reform, and youth empowerment. These initiatives form part of his broader ambition to transform Anambra into a green, liveable, and prosperous homeland.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate affirmed that his second term would consolidate the achievements of his first while introducing transformative projects.
Central to these plans is the establishment of three new smart cities “Awka 2.0”, “Next Onitsha”, and the “Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City” designed to redefine urban living, stimulate economic activity, and promote sustainability across the state.

In the healthcare sector, Soludo pledged to establish a comprehensive oncology centre to address Nigeria’s growing cancer burden. He also promised to expand Anambra’s telemedicine infrastructure, thereby ensuring residents in both urban and rural areas can access digital medical consultations.
Transportation will be a major priority, with the implementation of the Anambra Transport Masterplan. This includes a state rail network, dual carriage Trunk A roads, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, and digital ticketing – all aimed at improving productivity, easing mobility, and reducing environmental impact.
The statement further noted that Governor Soludo plans to harness Anambra’s tourism potential by developing attractions such as the Ogbunike Caves, Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls, and Agulu Lake into eco-tourism hubs with upgraded infrastructure and enhanced security.
The forthcoming Marriott Hotel in Awka is expected to further bolster the state’s hospitality and business tourism sectors.
Education and youth empowerment will also be prioritised through the introduction of a comprehensive bursary scheme to ensure that no Anambra student is left behind.
Governor Soludo’s second-term vision pledges not only continuity but a bold leap forward in the quest to make Anambra a model state.
